Tomorrow....Milestone run followed by celebrating Milestone Anniversary
Ok so to keep everyone up to date, I'm blogging on my journey to the Chicago Marathon, 26.2 miles I've never completed before. Last week was my longest run ever...14 miles. It was not easy. I luckily had my hubby and daughter meeting me at checkpoints to refill my fuel belt...best encouragement ever. I was crying by mile 5...I'm not normally like this. I usually start my runs around 6am so I'm not out in the heat of the day...I started this 14 miles at 5pm...there was Heat, Traffic, Hills...etc. I kept pushing and by mile 7 I felt like a new woman. Not sure what overcame me at mile 5 but glad I kept going! I met my husband and daughter 2 more times on my route to refill gatorade then completed my 14 miles. Iwas so proud...Now this week on to the 16 miler!
After I complete 16 miles on Thursday I get to celebrate my 5 year Wedding Anniversary to my husband Nicholas. He has been my anchor during my training and I'm so lucky to have an encouraging, motivating hubby like he is. He always pushes me and encourages me to keep going. Below is some pics of me and him...it has been the best 5 years ever, we've had ups and downs, we've also had our beautiful baby girl who we cherish more than life itself...overall, we are soulmates and would be lost without each other : ).
I'd also like to give a HUGE shout out and congrats to my dad and sis who completed Ironman Steelhead this weekend. They had rough weather conditions which cancelled the swim but still managed to bike 56 miles and run 13.1 with windy conditions! I'm so proud of them...they both inspire me to be a stronger athlete and competitor.
Hope everyone has a great rest of the week!

Training challenges, family vacations, and more...on my journey to the big 26.2
Hey all! I haven't wrote a blog for a couple months, so here it is! I am about halfway through my marathon training and am now feeling in the best shape of my life, but it has not come easy!
A few weeks into my training, I would go on short runs and my legs would feel like lead, my pace was slowing down, I was short of breath and just didn't feel right... I felt like I was hitting a wall. I knew in my mind I needed to push through it b/c of the weeks ahead I had in training, but while you're going through that feeling it's hard to imagine pushing through it, BUT I did...
I started increasing my miles right before we went on vacation in July to Myrtle Beach. Also I was so blessed to be able to take 2 weeks off with my family, in which I of course did some training there as well. Below is a pic of me and my dad and one of me and my sis after training runs along Ocean Ave down in Surfside Beach, SC. Great training motivation!
I think going on vacation and just letting go for a couple weeks and the refreshing it did for me has helped a lot with my training. I did train a lot in the heat down there but just being in that environment gave me the push I needed to get through this training, which I'm so excited about!
We had a great vacation, it was Ashlynn's first time to the beach and we got to spend some precious memories with my mom's side of the family, including celebrating my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary. I could not ask for better role models as my family has all been to me. I've been so fortunate to grow up in a Christian family and have the values and morals that have been placed in my life as they have. Below is a pic of my grandparents and a few from our vacation!
From Myrtle Beach we got to go to Fernandina Beach, FL for about 5 days to visit my bro in law and sis in law...we did some Beach time, shopping and relaxing! And of course I did more hot training runs...
Ashlynn got to spend some time with her Uncle Chris and Aunt Katy!
SO.....Now, back to reality. Early morning runs back home, back to work, loving my life. I'm so lucky and blessed to have my little family. I have a husband who has been more supportive with my training schedule and work schedule and who is an AMAZING dad. I love you Nicholas RAY!!!!
I am up to this week being my longest run yet...14 miles. I've never ran over 13.1, so I'm excited, nervous and pumped all at the same time. I will continue to blog along the way of my journey to the 26.2...STAY TUNED and HEALTHY!
